Community Leaders & Local Officials Hold Press Conference Calling for Maricopa County Attorney, Allister Adel, to Resign
On Tuesday, September 28, 2021, community leaders and elected officials will announce they are officially joining Mass Liberation AZ and directly impacted protesters in their demand that Maricopa County Attorney, Allister Adel, resign or be recalled. Mass Liberation AZ has been calling for Allister Adel’s resignation since February 2021, after the scandal surrounding the political prosecutions in 2020 unfolded. Allister Adel’s poor leadership has not only resulted in multiple investigations, high level resignations, multi-million-dollar lawsuits, and a federal investigation by the Department of Justice; it has led to a consensus by numerous politically influential and directly impacted community members that Allister Adel is not fit to hold office.
The press conference – to be held on Tuesday September 28th at 2:00pm at the front entrance of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, 225 W Madison St, Phoenix, AZ 85003 – will cover how Allister Adel’s tenure has been filled with lies, corruption, and political prosecutions. Speakers will discuss how the political prosecution of 39 protesters are part of a pattern of misconduct within the office and how Adel has neither faced accountability nor expressed any remorse. The conference will also cover Adel’s reactive decision to return to work after only 18 days of treatment for substance use and the ultimatum she was given by her colleagues. Lastly, speakers will talk about the widely supported campaign that includes dozens of billboards across the county, calling on Adel to resign or face an unavoidable recall.
Speakers will include:
- Maricopa County Democratic Party – Ne’Lexia Galloway
- LD 26 Rep Diego Rodriguez
- Working Families Party – Matthew Marquez
