Chief Williams Lies Again, Retires to Avoid Accountability

“It comes as no surprise to Mass Liberation AZ that Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams chose to ‘retire’ after being caught in a string of lies. She’s been avoiding accountability at every turn by scapegoating her staff and telling outright lies to protect her position. Her retirement, itself, is a lie. Williams is trying to slip out the back door while the whole city unravels at the hands of her deadly police force.”

Attorneys, Protesters, and Community Organizers Respond to Allister Adel’s resignation

“Adel’s resignation is a victory for all of the people who faced the brunt of Adel’s abuses of power during her tenure as a prosecutor. It is also a win for every Black person in Arizona who has been told we are only five percent of the population or that our political interests are not a priority. The victory also belongs to Mass Liberation Arizona and the directly impacted protesters who took on the third largest prosecuting agency in the nation, not because it was politically convenient, but because it was a fight for their lives. And we won.”

MCAO comms director resigns, Adel should follow suit

While the staff jump ship, Allister Adel is missing in action. With multiple multi-million dollar lawsuits (from people falsely charged by her office and her own staff) and an ongoing investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, it is long past time for Adel to resign.”
