Mass Liberation AZ

Statement Against State Violence & Racist Immigration Policies

No human being is illegal. Migration is a natural human right and borders are tools of oppression that serve those in power, not the people. We affirm our commitment to protecting the lives, safety, and dignity of all migrants, especially Black migrants who are disproportionately targeted by these systems of violence. Whether it’s ICE, Border Patrol, or the Phoenix Police Department, the agencies used to hunt down and disappear our communities must be abolished. We denounce the federal government’s ongoing attacks against Black migrants and all those seeking refuge, opportunity, and safety in the United States. Mass Liberation Arizona remains in unwavering solidarity with all migrants who have been subjected to arbitrary detention, harassment, and racialized violence at the hands of the state. Across the United States, including in its colonies like Puerto Rico, federal agencies such as ICE and the DEA continue to target individuals based on their skin color, ethnicity, accent, physical appearance, or presumed immigration status. These actions are a blatant violation of civil and human rights and perpetuate a system of oppression that criminalizes migration and devalues the lives of Black and brown people. We reject the terror inflicted on families who come here to live, work, and provide for their loved ones. The state’s weaponization of immigration enforcement is a tool of colonial and white supremacist control. From targeting Black people migrating from across the globe, including Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and the African continent, to Latinx, Indigenous, and Asian migrants, the message is clear: this system was never designed for liberation, but rather to exploit, exclude, and oppress. This violence threatens not only the lives of migrants but also the collective freedom and safety of all marginalized communities living under this authoritarian system. The state has no right to dehumanize and brutalize those seeking refuge. Our communities must organize and rise against this racial violence and state terror. If this past decade has taught us anything, it’s that no politician or political party will save us. In fact, they have worked together to lead us to this very moment. The dehumanization of immigrants is a bipartisan effort, whether it’s through Trump’s slew of executive orders, Biden’s record-breaking number of deportations, or the Arizona Democrats who are currently sponsoring the horrific Laken Riley Act. It is our responsibility to dismantle the systems that criminalize migration, exploit labor, and perpetuate colonial control. We keep us safe
