Mass Liberation AZ

This Nakba, we must stop condemning armed Palestinian resistance

Mass Liberation AZ remains in solidarity with all Palestinian people worldwide as we commemorate Nakba Day today May 15th 2024. Nakba, meaning “catastrophe” in Arabic continues to serve as a solemn remembrance of the mass violence and brutal displacement endured by 750,000 Palestinians during the Israeli occupation’s illegitimate declaration of independence in 1948.

As Palestinian people in the occupied territories and in exile in the diaspora witness the 76th year of violent displacement and expulsion of their people, this year’s Nakba Day unfolds amidst a genocide in Gaza and a surge in violence against Palestinian people in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and other Palestinian cities and towns within what is referred to as “Israel” but is rightfully known as Palestine.

Mass Liberation Arizona is in solidarity with Palestinian people around the world and their struggle for return and liberation. Today, more than ever, we must choose our language carefully when we express our solidarity with Palestine. Condemning Palestinian armed resistance is condemning colonized people.

There will never be a free Palestine without resistance. Pressuring weapons manufacturers and governments, protesting, and shifting narratives are all crucial tactics to demand an end to the genocide in Gaza. But it is the armed Palestinian resistance that is actually confronting the genocidal Israeli military on the ground. While the Israeli occupation is forcing everyday people in Gaza to endure bullets and bombs, the armed Palestinian resistance succeeds at defending Gaza from the brutal takeover the US and Israel intended. To be in solidarity with Palestinian people for a free Palestine, we must unapologetically and unequivocally refuse to condemn armed Palestinian resistance.
