Operation Al-Aqsa Flood: One Year Later
October 7th marks one year since the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, where the Palestinian armed resistance broke through the prison walls of Israel’s occupation and woke the entire world. Mass Liberation AZ remains in solidarity with the Palestinian people on their path to liberation.
A free Palestine must include:
- An independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and its holy sites protected
- The freedom of all Palestinian prisoners around the world
- An end to the siege on Gaza
- The freedom of Palestinian people to live with dignity, determining their own future
Palestinian people have endured a century of violence and erasure. After the violent expulsion and mass displacement of Palestinians during the illegitimate creation of Israel, the apartheid regime continues its genocide in Gaza and the occupied territories while expanding its colonial presence across the Middle East.
Since its humiliation on October 7th, Israel has massacred countless children, families, and civilians in Gaza. So many have been killed that the health ministry has been unable to accurately count the deaths since June. An estimated 186,000 people have been killed through Israel’s relentless campaign of bombardment, starvation, and disease, with countless others missing or injured. Entire bloodlines have been erased, as Israel has wiped at least 902 Palestinian families off the civil registry.
Israel’s genocidal campaign has been funded, supplied, and authorized by the Biden-Harris administration. The U.S. is equally, if not more, responsible for the destruction and displacement in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. The 2,000 lb bombs indiscriminately dropped on civilians in hospitals, schools, and mosques, from Gaza to Beirut, are American-made and supplied. From President Biden down, the US administration has spent the past year lying to the public and manufacturing consent for Israel’s brutal actions. Every press briefing, presidential address, campaign tour, and media interview has been used to distort the truth about the atrocities in Gaza. Anyone denying the US government’s role in the mass death and devastation unfolding across these regions is complicit in genocide.
The Gazan resistance and Operation Al-Aqsa Flood have awakened the world to our complicity in the Israeli and U.S. campaign of terror and destruction. October 7th not only shattered the false belief that we are forever trapped by the prison of empire and imperialism, but also illuminated the path to liberation through steadfastness and determination. There is no turning back—liberation is the only path forward. We will not rest until Palestine is free!
“We are in a significant historical phase, and today, history is being made. What came before October 7 will not remain the same after it. This is a time of painful birth and major transformation, and these changes will not remain confined to Palestine but will extend to the region and even the global system. This is an opportunity for every individual and force to have a place in these transformations and be remembered by history for being on the right side—on the side of oppressed peoples.”
